Super Moon - Cape Cod Sand Dunes
Super Moon – Cape Cod Sand Dunes

Mid Fall in Cape Cod is a multi faceted photo opportunity with truly spectacular scenics and some wildlife.  The tourists have all gone, the Oyster festival is over and traffic is not a nightmare.  This very special workshop is for all levels of photographers from beginner to advanced.  The Cape provides some of the most incredible landscapes and seascapes and the light during fall is exceptional.  We will explore and photograph the Capes classic sea shore, sand dunes, light houses and some wildlife (including migratory birds).  We will determine schedules and locations based on weather forecasts, tides and sunrise/sunset times.  We may even explore the opportunity to do some night photography.

The workshop will begin with a meet and greet, a orientation briefing and to capture a sunset. A post dinner short classroom session devoted to teaching exposure theory, composition and field techniques will be conducted. Each day we will explore various landscapes whether intimate ones or those on a grand scale, photographing sand patterns, marsh grasses and fishing scenes.

Our days will be based on a very flexible schedule allowing us to respond to the opportunities based on weather and light conditions so you can have the best photo experiences each day. We will start each day early so as to capture images in the the best possible light. We will grab a coffee and quick breakfast en-route, on the go. We photograph throughout the morning, breaking for at mid-morning for an image review, lunch and instruction sessions.

In the late afternoon, we will head out for more photography, concluding after sunset. Dinner will be at a location of your choosing. We will then meet to do image downloads and for a feedback session. Open discussion session will be included as well as a prep session for the next day. Whenever possible, we will attempt some night photography and light painting sessions.

We will return to our hotel for a review session and after lunch we will have an instructional session. Late in the day, we will photograph additional scenes on the cape. We will capture a sunset and break for dinner. After dinner, we will download our images and do an image critique. Instruction on how to enhance your images will be provided.

Day 3:

A sunrise shoot is scheduled at beaches and at a lighthouse. We will have breakfast and spend the day concentrating on HDR photography at an abandoned farm village. After lunch, we will have an instructional session and image download as well as a critique. Sunset photography will be in a working fishing village/harbor.
